so I ordered the ECS 6piston upgrade since they looked like a decent upgrade.

6piston OEM BMW Performance Brembo Calipers (aka 135i Calipers)
ECS custom brackets
e46 330i floating rotors (discontinued)

Here are some pics! :D

Installed!

Notes:

ZHP Rims DO NOT fit with this kit. It rubs on the caliper. I will need to order some 3-5mm spacers for the front.

I haven't gotten a chance to bed them in yet. I already ordered track pads for the setup. Overall the install was basically like replacing new calipers on the car. The only pain was removing the 135i bracket and installing the ECS brackets on. The 10mm Allen-wrench bolts were REALLY stuck on.

I'll get some good pics once daylight hits. :excited:

They look awesome!

So how is pedal feel affected from going from 1 piston to 6? Did you do anything to the brake booster?

I haven't really gotten a chance to drive it yet but It looks like I might need to rebleed as it is a little mushy. I'll use the pressure bleeder at work and see if I cant get the remaining air out of the system.

I'll report back when I get the setup working properly.

Definitely curious about it.

I upgraded my 323i brakes to the 330i brakes. I considered an even bigger upgrade but was concerned about the compatibility of my brake master cylinder & booster, that's meant for 1 piston, and using it with multiple piston calipers.

Good to see someone took advantage of this. Great price relative to what you get but I must admit I'd be really pissed if I got it all removed & installed, only to find I couldn't use my wheels. Especially considering ECS' product description: "Most 17” wheels will clear these calipers." (http://www.ecstuning.com/ES2215444/)

Have you sent ECS any feedback on this?

Also: what do you do when the rotors wear out if they've been discontinued?

No I have not. But they do provide a template on the website so they do provide the proper information to allow the buyer to make sure it fits. I would imagine a 3-5mm spacer will make it clear no problem.

"Most 17” wheels will clear these calipers. To verify fitment, please see the attached template."

As far as NLA rotors, I have a few sets of the floating ones. ;) But OEM 330i rotors will fit on this setup since these floating rotors are 330i fitment. They just won't be floating ones anymore.

brakes are definitely a bit stronger than the old 330i brakes. Not significantly but it should work pretty good with stronger rear brake pads during track days. :D
