I'd start with a fluid and filter refresh.

Sometimes that's enough to solve the problem.

By "slipping" what do you mean and at what point? Under hard acceleration, slight acceleration going up hills, what gear etc im just wondering. Remember the autos start off in 2nd gear from a stop, and 1st is only available if you shift it to M1 manually.

it happens anytime i shift from 1st to second and third, and then back down, its very jumpy under anything over 1/2 throttle and takes a couple seconds to shift sometimes form 1st to second under 3/4 or more acceleration.

and danewilson77 thank you for the link, i will deffinetely try that.

That sounds bout normal, The steptronic is very laggy in terms of shifting fast. If im not in heavy throttle and at about 4 1/2 thousand rpm or higher it is even slower to shift.

Wait, what? Do zhp's have a special manual, or am I just a bumbling fool?

He's referring to the steptronic in manual mode.

Yes, but I think that's only in auto mode. If he's using the manual shift mode, then I assumed he was starting from first (after manually selecting it).

Not sure.

OP- can you clarify?

Sorry for the confusion, I was refuring to when you stop in manual mode it only goes to 2nd. I believe the rest of the modes goes to first from a stop.

Okay that's nice to hear, iv been driving pretty conservative because of it. But ill probably do the ecs kit just to be safe.

And auto zhp's start off in second gear in manual mode from a stop. Not sure why though.

Ahh. Knew there was something with second gear, but couldn't remember.

Thanks.

But again to be clear, in Manual mode in a STEP, you can just downshift into 1st yourself, even though the auto default is 2nd.
