View Full Version : Spacers for 135 wheels stock suspension?

Hello everyone, I am getting ready to put spacers on my 04 ZHP. I have a stock set up but I love the flush look. I have read several threads on spacers but found no definate answer to what size I need. So far it seems that 20mm front and 25mm rear brings stock to to flush. Has anyone put spacers on the 135's? If so please let me know of the results! Thanks in advance!

I have 12.5mm Spacers in the front and it looks fairly flush. I can't tell you on the rear since I rolled my fenders and the fender is a bit flared out. I think you can get away with 12-15mm.

Measure the distance you have to the fender edge. Then.....buy a spacer that size....

I went really aggressive with my set at one point.

First set up
Front 20mm
Rear 15mm

Second set up
Front 15mm
Rear 12mm

The first set up I ended up rolling the rear fenders. While it was flush (to me it stuck out a little too much in the front for my liking). The second set up was great and provided the look I wanted. It did not make me feel as if the wheels were sticking out too much.

Does the addition of the spacers on the stock wheels accelerate wheel bearing wear due to uneven loading? :dunno

I was just curious since BMW used to use hubcentric setups.

The spacers themselves are hub centric as well.

What I meant was they come with their own hubcentric lip to mount the wheel on at 10+ like these

I think Seth still has the spacers on my old car. I had 20mm in front and it looked perfect. The rears were 10mm and would have been perfect if I had upgraded to 20mm in back also. Fenders were rolled in back and ride height was awfully low (KW V2's at the lowest in front with helpers still in). No problems with rubbing.

Any spacer smaller than 10mm will not have a hubcentric lip on it. It's physically impossible since the spacer slides over the existing lip but is not thick enough to take the lip's place (the standard lip still protrudes through the spacer). With a 9mm lip, a 5mm spacer will only leave 4mm of stock lip left for the wheel to rest on. This is important to keep in mind when considering your wheel/spacer setup. A wheel witha beveled edge on the back will not adequately rest on the lip, resulting in a vibration because the wheel is not truly centered on the hub.

Just curious. I know we need to measure our cars, but the original post said that 25mm rear seemed to be the # that brought stock to flush... but no one validated that. Is there a consensus? It seems that under 20mm for the rear is what's worked.

I will be setting up with 10mm front and 12mm rear after setting up my BBK. I will see how this looks/works with my Style 135 wheels...

Charlie, I've heard those BBK's won't fit with the 135's... maybe with spacers they will.

It'll fit with I believe a 3-5mm spacer. Derbo runs his with spacers and they fit fine, though I think his spacers are much larger.

Style 135's are ET50 (18x8.5) (Rears).

I am ET45 (18x8) running a 15mm spacer and could go to a 20mm spacer. That implies to me, that a 20mm spacer for 135's would be an easy fit with 25mm spacers being near flush.

I can't confirm though as I haven't done it, but thought I would provide the breakdown.

The difference would be 1 more mm out starting off with no spacers. 20mm might be closer to flush while a 25mm may rub.

Just for kicks I measured mine for the rear and 20mm would be fine. 25 seems a little too much on my stock setup.

I used Macht schnell 5mm spacers in the front, but they didnt give enough lip for the 135 wheels to sit on. I had vibration issues with those spacers. I went to turner 12mm spacers now and it fits great. Looks weird cause the rear has no spacers but, this is for daily driving only anyways.


I tried the 12mm and 10mm spacers on the rear with the 18x8.5 +50 and I had rubbing on bumps but I am pretty low with factory size 255/35/18.

also should note my rear fenders are slightly rolled. LOL

I do have some hub extenders + Macht Snell 5mm spacers/Lugnuts for someone who wants a more permanent spacer. I take my wheels on and off too often to use a hub extender.
