Where is the best place to buy one of these?

I have been reading different things since I got my car and it sounds like this is the intake to go with.

But the issue is $$$$$. I have seen many threads where people got this intake at a discount but every where I looked is selling it for $700-$800.

Where can I get this for cheap?

Thanks for any insight guys.

The BMW performance intake for our cars skyrocketed in price about 3-4 months ago. I guess all the vendors sold the ones that they had and jacked up the price of the ones they have now because of the demand.

I personally don't know if you will be able to find them for under $700 for a quite some time. I know that everyone that has gone with this intake has loved it and it is engineered by BMW, so you know that it is tailored to work great with our cars.

IMHO - I wouldn't spend $700 on this intake. For what it does, I can't justify the price tag. I know that the AFE intakes are also very high quality and can be found for just under $300 on Amazon. This is the route I decided to go, and I have nothing but good things to say about the quality of AFE's E46 CAI.

If you have your heart set on a BMW performance intake then I would just wait and see if the price drops to get one. Good luck!

The intake was originally $700 MSRP. Then they went on a firesale for $350ish. Now that they are no longer in production, they have drove it back up to $700 again.

IMO, Don't spend that $700 on the BMW intake, get the AFe one. I know I waited too long to get the BMW one while it was on sale.. I apparently got the last one from Germany according to my parts department.. phew.

That's another good example of an expensive intake. I wanted one but I couldn't find a suitable one for a reasonable price.

ECS had them for $286 + shipping for a while last year, i jumped on that, seems most everyone did cause they sold out of them pretty fast.

however much i love the look and stock performance upgrade it's still not worth $700+...go with aFe and get your money's worth or prepare to hunt for a deal on ebay or e46f.c

I got one at the low price point. Definitely not worth $700, unless it's worth $700 to you. In that case, enjoy!!

Thanks for the info guys. There is no way I was every going to spend 700 on one but I just wanted to make sure I was not missing some random site where they were cheaper.

As of now it is looking like I will go with the AFE as that was my second choice anyway. Might even do the DAS as well if the wallet allows it.

But until I have the money for both of those I might get my buddy to help me build a long tube like he has, which me made based off the Dinan specs.
