Does all of our ZHP come ready for direct hook up to the CD Changer? How can we tell if the wirings are plug & play? Is this the correct CD Changer compatible for our ZHP? Is there anything else that will be required to make this work? Thanks.

My 2005 ZHP and my previous 2005 325i have "black plastic plugs" on the bottom of the trunk lid that state CD Changer ready.

Aha. I see the plug. Pre-wired for BMW CD Changer. Is this the correct CD Changer as per specifications on the name plate? How about the price? Is this worth it to install?

Reviving this old thread. If I buy an E46 changer off Ebay, is it a simple bolt-in with cable(s) already in place? I see a few for sale that are late enough production to support MP3. With iPod adapter support so shitty, I'm thinking this may be a way to throw a ton of music into the car - load up relatively high bit rate MP3's into the changer and call it a day.

Yes, adding a CD Changer is very simple as all US spec cars are pre-wired. Depending on the vehicle spec you may require various mounting brackets and possibly a new left side trunk trim piece with the door for access to the CD Changer magazine, electrical connection is plug and play. Changers made from September 2005 on support MP3 playback.

Why do you think iPod support is 'so shitty'? For the price of an MP3 CD Changer you can get something quite decent even with the Business radio.

From reading the documentation for the various kits (like the Dice stuff) and how hokey the library navigation is, and the built-in limitations of the small display of the Business (non-nav) head unit.

Is there a particular kit you (or anyone else reading) recommend over others?

Most people think that the Intravee is only good on Nav, but it's not that bad on the Business HU either.

You can configure most key on the HU and wheel to do what you want

Configure lots of stuff, for example the scroll speed of the display

Connect multiple devices like iPod, CD Changer, Sirius/XM/HD tuners.
