I bought this with a blown motor
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/picture.php?albumid=1013&pictureid=21282
taking her home
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/picture.php?albumid=1013&pictureid=21281
then I bought this a month later
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/picture.php?albumid=1013&pictureid=23784
then I got this
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/picture.php?albumid=1013&pictureid=22825
and then I dropped the car off at RRT (http://www.roadracetech.com/) in Dulles Virginia and waited patiently.

While waiting I took part in a group buy and got a sweet deal on these
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/picture.php?albumid=1013&pictureid=23820
RRT got me the Michelin Pilot Super Sports at TireRack pricing with free shipping woo hoo
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/picture.php?albumid=1013&pictureid=23821
I waited some more while Epic Tuning programmed my DME with their tune and some other work to keep it legit, and RPM Motorsports took care of the gauge cluster. I bought a used M3 rear end and the boys welded in the TMS plates and fit it all up. Decided on Borla Midpipes, and they fabricated a magnaflow muffler
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/picture.php?albumid=1013&pictureid=23783

Then I got the call SHE was almost done
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/picture.php?albumid=1013&pictureid=23782

picked her up today and she's running strong.

RRT had to get the driveshaft chopped to fit, and the balance is slightly off, so around 35-40 it gives some vibration. Below 25 and above 45 one can barely even notice, but at 35-40 it's very noticeable. Unfortunately near my house all roads are 35 mph. That won't be fixed until the week of the 16th though cause the guy from the outsourced shop is on vacation until then. Also I have some rubbing with the rear tires, need to get them rolled or pulled/stretch some more.

Also contemplating 4.10 or 3.91 diff, or possibly ESS supercharger. I'd really like to go with the RaceMarque intercooled SC but I don't know any good tuners I can trust around here with that. ESS seems to be the best set up for build quality and proven track record from my research. Also, there will be other things I'm sure I'll get into. Looking into a data aquisition systems and would like to integrate with a Dynavin type media center. That's all down the road though. I just want to get it all set up as is and drive for a few months first.

I've got well over 30K invested this far. You gotta pay to play ya know

I got what I consider to be a great deal. Interior is about a 95 out of 100, and exterior is around 85. Also the car had 31k on it, Take a guess...

so it took a while for the driveshaft shop to get it right, but it's done no more vibration. Also lowered it on the Hotchkis Springs and went back to oem M3 motor mounts. The BimmerWorld were to much for me initially, maybe in time I'll go back to them. With the drive shaft slightly out of balance and the solid motor mounts initially I also had RRT install a bunch of sound deadener underneath the exhaust and driveshaft. Additionally, I had to get 3mm machined off the rear rims with trim & rework the rear fenders a bit to get these 18x9.5 with now 38offset and 265/35 Michelin Pilot Super Sports to fit. Anyways, I'm loving this car it's so sweet to drive. Drives amazing feeling very planted and sounds amazing too. It's not over the top loud, but it is definitely unique. Anyways, here are some pictures, I'll get some better quality soon

RRT used to field a couple of cars in the continental tire sports car challenge. Not sure of they're competing anymore. They do a lot of track prep work. From all I've heard, very legit, well run shop up there with bimmerworld and tms.

I'm curious - what has the total conversion ran you (cost-wise)? The car was $3500, what about the S54, misc parts & shop costs? I can see something like this in my future!

Amazing car!!!

RRT is an awesome shop their fabrication skills are amazing. They just ran a Pro Race today in the Continental Challene running a 128i I believe.

I have amazing rim fitament/stance, the car is definitely set up looking good inside and out. I bought M3 fitament rims and RRT made them fit. The best stuff isn't easily seen under the hood and all the way back. The 3.62 with the Borla V3 midpipes and the Magnaflow muffler screams as rpms rise. There are so many aspects that their attention to detail shines. I love this car..

Yes

and the engine bay coming along, notice the windshield wiper fluid reservoir up top. The brackets holding look oem, awesome fabrication work by RRT, very sturdy.

^Loving it! A bit too much black for me (ahem, grilles) but to each their own. I personally like contrast.

I think I'm spying some Pilot SS's as well? :)

Also, Why'd you edit out your fogs?

JohnBlaze
05-18-2012, 06:43 PM
I like the all black personally, and with the foglights one was devastated when I bought it, so leaving them out until I get replacements. The Pilot SS's are amazing tires. Also I ordered new side markers, front turns, carbon fiber front splitters and a carbon fiber rear diffuser. After that i might tint but I'll probably leave it alone for a while. The car is runnning great, loving it.

Simply awesome. What size tires/wheels are you running and how is your speedo reading? I need to correct my speedo as it's off by A LOT. To make matters worse, I went with a smaller tire (245/35/18). I am wondering if there's a difference in circumference between the 19x9.5" 255/35 and the 18x9" 255/40 E46 M3 wheel configurations.

Terry

Terry
08-10-2012, 08:09 AM
Oops, found it - 18x9.5 et38 and 265/35/18s. This shows a corrected speedo of about +2.86% where as mine is -4.9%. If I can't correct mine somehow I'll probably be needing to go to larger tires (and possibly wheels too).

Car looks stunning, Anton.

Thanks Terry!

I got the dyno video, and talked to Randy from EPIC. With some custom tuning I can pick up a bit of power all the way through, now I need to find a dynojet with a data link module that allows remote tuning remoted into their systems. That or it's the old email back and forth, would much rather have real virtual tuning with the tuner plugged in

Well I certainly haven't been more active, but I am checking in to say things are still going well with the car. Still daily driving and only up to about 44,500 miles on the chassis. Since I last checked in I've gained Hotchkis Front Swaybar, Hotchkis lowering springs, Vorshlag Camber plates, Z3 front tower reinforcements and TC Kline SA(from tops) Koni's all around

5-60 vid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SasoguNUp2g

and one auto-x last year here's a little vid of that

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gutgM6yZTEo

bought a set of front Porsche Brembos that are already milled and include brackets and lines. Need to find a set of rears and get those brackets and new lines too. After that I'll get the brakes powder coated with Brembo stickers and then get them rebuilt.

Will do in March because my Winter rims won't fit with it, can't wait just need to decide on color to go with. Thinking silver with red or black logos.
