Have them on the Miata and 5.7 Tundra. Hopefully one day I could afford a set for the Bimmer.

I must be in the minority of people who like only 5-spoke star-shaped wheels... :) Even the 135s are way too "busy" for me...my dream is to put some 135i Sport package wheels on my ZHP someday...These:

Next time you're down in San Diego, we'll have to take a spin in it.

I'll be closer to your neighborhood this weekend. I will be at C&C in Irvine on Saturday (provided it does not rain).

And now that I can upload videos from Droid to youtube, I am going to do a video run in it.

Cool. See ya there.

To get us back on topic, you can check out my BBS wheels. Likewise, mwscircle will be there too. He has BBS LMs as well. And I am texting Khoa right now. He has 20" BBS LMs on his M3. He might be there. If he brings the 330, he has BBS wheels on that one, too.

So, it's a BBS meet, baby! Be there around 6:45.

EDIT: Khoa just confirmed. He'll be there too. Should be a good turnout.

Hehe - I was actually reminiscing back to the days of the BBS's (bulletin board service using dial up) - before the internet - when we had BBS meets and swap meets...those were the days.

Have fun guys! Hope you took pictures. I'd come out in my e30 rocking some basketweaves but you are on the other coast.

If the company is liquidated, and BBS ceases to exist, BBS wheels will fetch a premium on the market. They will be tougher to find going forward.

If you have them now, don't let them go.

But this article is better. They get texture from the company, which says that it is merely restructuring, not liquidating:

BBS Wheels Files For Bankruptcy… Again (http://www.inflexwetrust.com/2011/01/06/bbs-wheels-files-for-bankruptcy-again/)

I hope BBS can find a way to stay in business long term. They make beautiful wheels that are well made.

mimalmo
01-07-2011, 08:27 PM
Friend of mine that uses their wheels on a race car contacted them and got this reply.

This is BBS' official word, sent by the head of their US operations in GA 1/4/10:

To our valued customers,

BBS has been the recognized leader in the premium wheel category for 40 plus years. As BBS of America, Inc. brings to a close the 2010 year in a much healthier manner; we are very bullish on the 2011 year with a much stronger program in all phases of the North American business.

However, some difficulties have beset our parent company, BBS International GmbH. While not posing any immediate difficulties to our North American operations, we want you to be aware of this information.

BBS International GmbH has filed for Insolvency Protection in what amounts to be a Management Reorganization (similar to our Chapter 11 protection) during a difficult period while in negotiation to sell the one high volume plant in Herbolzheim, Germany. While the sale of this plant (high volume production plant for the OE market) is pending to the Ronal organization, it put undue pressure on credit within BBS International GmbH. This filing will enable BBS International GmbH to continue to do business as usual while the Management is restructured and the sale of the Herbolzheim plant is completed. The sale of the Herbolzheim plant will allow for further investment and streamlining to be made at the Schiltach operation (BBS International GmbH headquarters). The investment in the Schiltach operation will enable BBS to re-focus on its core business of high end Aftermarket, Motorsport and Premium Original Equipment product for the worlds leading automotive manufacturers.

BBS of America, Inc. is in business and is fully operational. The plants in Germany are also fully operational and product is due to be released after this holiday period in the normal manner. The new German product that we have arriving for the spring selling season is still on plan. Our forged wheel business with our partner BBS Japan is also unaffected as we have some new offerings on the forged side of the business also arriving in the spring.

We will do all that is possible to support our customers during this time. We fully expect to continue with our aggressive business plan in 2011.

Hopefully this clears things up. BBS isn't going anywhere anytime soon

Marcus-SanDiego
01-07-2011, 08:31 PM
Yep. A nice restructuring, which is likely needed. Union contracts will have to be redone. Current contracts will have to restructured. This is the second restructuring in four years. Hopefully, they can get their cost structure figured out.

Love the company. Love the product.

Whats up guys

Show me pics of E46s on BBS wheels. Any style. As much as I wanted VMRs, BBS are my weakness. Always wanted CHs, but love gold LMs, love the lip on the RS-GTs....sighhhh :help Also what is the widest fitment that can be allowed on the E46 all around without fender rolling

I'll start, our old M3 on BBS CHs. 19x8.5 front, 19x10 rear, no fender or suspension mods. I had fit these on the ZHP for fun and the rear looked like a Jeep sticking out hehe.

Not a very good look from so far, but these are 15" RG-F's on my old Scirocco.. only 12.4 lbs in this size or something crazy like that. IMMEDIATELY noticeable improvement in handling and acceleration when dropping from 21" lb wheels...

This was as stock as I could find. Seems like it would be decent looking but if you really want a slick looking ride you would lower a tad to make the BBS look at home like most have mentioned.

I have always reeaaaaaally wanted a set of BBS RSII wheels. The rear concave on the 10 inch wide wheel is sooooo good looking. Eventually swapping out to a 2-3pc wheel on the ZHP from the CHs would be ideal. It’s come down to either new wheels or a supercharger
