I want to fire up an inline six everyday. I want to have a 6th gear. I want to walk out to Imola Red. I want a thick alcantara wrapped steering wheel. I want to hit that apex quicker and quicker each day. I want the Ultimate Driving Machine!

Sorry guys just my winter blues thought I'd share. Been driving my V-dub for a couple months now, and its good, but you can see above. About 2 more months til the ZHP comes back out!! :)

Your car told me it wants you to take it out. It feels neglected and it seriously considering moving to Louisiana without you. You should fix this.

Dude, then get in the car and drive it! No complaining!

What do you think the rest of us do that can't afford second cars?! :rolleyes

This thing is amazing in the snow, truth be told. Gotta know how to drive it.

Be happy you have a second car to use in the snow. Or else you would be like me and have the ZHP caked in mud!

In all honesty, I would MUCH rather have the ZHP caked in mud and get action 365.25 days a year instead of garage queening it for a large portion of the year.

This. Cars are meant to be driven.

I'm still looking forward to driving mine in the snow. Should I feel guilty? Nah. :)

Ah, but it is so depressing when shes caked in mud, and it's too damn cold outside to wash her

Details, details. Worth the tradeoff to wash in the cold.

Just think of it this way; April 1st is only 1968 hours away

So you guys convinced me. This is the last season it will get stored. I love it too much to have it sit in the garage for 4-5 months of the year. The proper snow tires will be ordered and it will be driven and babied year round. I know the car pretty well so there really shouldnt be any surprises.

Been thinking about it for a few days now and since I saw an M3 with summers and a ZHP with snows, my idea was finalized. :)

Congrats, Stathi. We drove the 328 in snow and it was a lot of fun. The only time I hated it was when we got caught in a surprise snow storm (we had the all seasons on; the dedicated snows had not been put on yet).

Hah thanks. Was the 328i a rwd model or an xDrive?? I really cant wait to drive the car again haha

Snows tires for the win. You can't go wrong with them, regardless of which wheels drive the car.

This, haven't lost traction once in the snow with my Blizzaks, unless I was trying to have some fun

I finally drove my zhp in the snow today. The Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds provided less grip than expected but it's ok. The tires provide good dry road traction which we have much more of here in MO. It doesn't snow a lot here and I accept the trade-off. The Blizzak WS60 that I had before on a different car were the opposite... great in snow but horrible on dry roads especially on a curvy road.

With about 4" of snow so far, the neighbors probably thought I was a bit strange when I left the house in the car instead of the X5. Haha.

It's such a good feeling to go out in a RWD car with 255-wide rear tires and leave minivans and other front-wheel-drive garbage to sit there spinning their tires because they don't know how to drive.
The car can always do it!

That makes me feel better.

The thing is when it snows in Maine, it snows 4-5 inches at the least. This year has been crazy though, it has only snowed once but has been EXTREMELY cold. But I am pretty confident that with the right tires, and I know the car i should be fine.

Only thing that worries me are hills. Any comments?

And what kind of snow tires are you guys running? Also studded or not?

I've got Pirelli all-seasons. I was inclined to say they're crappy in the snow compared to snows, but I actually have no problem with them.

Guys. Guys. Guys. We want to coddle these cars, but remember where they come from.
They were (are) designed in Germany. Hey man, they got plenty of snow out there and they don't garage their Bimmers. They drive them like they're supposed to be driven. Summer or winter,,, for the love & fun of driving. And they drive them fast on the autobahn.
Get a good set of winter tires and have fun.

Yep. When I went to get my Dension unit installed, there was a Boster S there and sure enough, winter tires and everything ready to go for winter.
It's nice to see people with nice cars actually driving them year-round. It's definitely liberating.
