View Full Version : Fender Rolling tool for borrow to ZHPMafia members doityourself

danewilson77

This is the fender roller. It is for borrowing. Please keep tool in good shape and keep it in the original box. The tool is virtually brand new, having only been used a few times at the meet in May, 2012.

Borrowers pay shipping. That's it.

I am asking for a 2 week turnaround on the tool, from my doorstep-to you-back to me. Please try to stay within this time slot, to keep the tool available for others.

I will update this thread when I get a shipping quote. The tool should be insured for $250.00 when shipping.

Please sign up below. This has been cleared with the Boss.

Additionally, I want to thank all of the members that pitched in for the tool. Your selflessness is appreciated by all.

The intention, I believe, from the onset, is that this would be a Mafia Family tool. Not just a tool for those that contributed.

If I could get confirmation on this, from some of the members that donated, that would be great.

Okay, Thanks. Even if there was a little fee, I am interested in using it. I can't condone myself into spending upwards of $200 for a single use.

No fee. You would just be responsible for the shipping both ways.

Still owe a quote on that.

Do I need to roll my fenders if I am just running the stock wheels. Does the wheel roll give a mote bad ass look?

Negative; rolling the inner lip of the fender is only useful if you're lowered and/or running wider wheels. There'd be zero visual indication from the outside if you rolled a 100% stock setup.

Dane told me it takes about $37 to ship, then the same back. So, I'm going to have to rent a tool locally and share with William and Gary when he visits. That cost is $50.

why not just wait till it makes its way out there? if it gets to me, thats 1/2 way there, should be less to get it to ya.

This is why I was thinking for $170 we could have one on the Best Coast

I hear ya, but that's a bit of dough for a one time use, especially if we all use it in the same session and only pay $20-ish. We can talk offline if you want to buy one.

A couple of the guys told me about the fender roller at the show... I wish I would have known ahead of time so I could have asked you to bring it along but oh well. ;)

I'll like to borrow the roller!
My zip code is 17011

Also, if there's anyone in the Central PA or MD area that would be willing to help out with rolling my rear fenders, let me know. I can drive where ever...

Yeah I have a heat gun too, another requirement to protect the paint as the roller stretches your metal. I'm in N.VA, Fairfax Station, probably 2.5 hrs from Harrisburg.

Do I need to remove any liners or moldings from the wheel well?

You can do this. Only thing other then heating up the paint prior to rolling is get a pick or small screwdriver and scrape the grime out of the inner crevis of the fender.

Is the tool available to borrow? Also, is rolling fender something that an average home mechanic can do w/o too much chance of messing things up (e.g., for someone who knows enough to do basic maintenance, such as brakes, gaskets, etc.)?

Thanks.

Yes to your 2nd question. Helpful to watch a youtube video of it if you haven't seen it done. It's not complicated per se, but you don't want to screw things up so you need to know what you're doing. After seeing it, it's pretty obvious.

Dane/Gentlemen,
Is this fine tool still available for loan?? If so, man I could use it! My new wheels/suspension are great when I'm by myself, but get a buddy in the car and it's rub city... Let me know availability, sooner the better, and shipping costs to 97006. Thanks!

Edit: Guess I should've waited a few mins before I sent this... Found a local guy who rents his fender roller on craigslist for $20 for 3 days, haha crazy
