Hey all. I posted a WTB thread on e46fanatics about a month or so ago saying I'd like someone's highline tuning exhaust. I knew it was a shot in the dark but whatever. I recently just figured that the thread had died.. And I had bought Seth's old magnaflow muffler in the meantime. My goal was to install that and delete a resonator. But I felt bad hacking up my ZHP exhaust.

Today though, I get a PM. Someone has a highline tuning exhaust and wants to trade for stock. I checked out their posted topics and it looks like they're trying to revert their 330 back to stock.

Idk where he lives, or what he wants to do so I'm preparing a bit ahead of time. But how much would the family say I throw his way for the trade? Of course I'm going to try for a straight trade, but if I were him I wouldn't want a straight trade.

IIRC, the cat back exhaust system he has is $600-700 new.

cover his shipping costs

and if he wants more maybe throw him $50

if it is 600 new, as a used exhaust it may have depreciated to maybe 300
plus he wants a stock one which go for $150 to 250
so paying for shipping and maybe a little extra should cover the difference

(my numbers are just off the top of my head and by no means are researched extensively)
let me know if my numbers and logic are in the ballpark

He's from NY. Arounds Queens IIRC.

So I think ideally.. we would meet up. Swap. Then be on our ways.

He has a coupe though.. does that matter?

no.

Does he have the highline exhaust on his car? Or is it a different cat-back?

It's the highline tuning cat-back

That sounds like a deal but I'd be concerned about the swap, it would take some time to get it off your car and into his, rusty bolts and such are a bioch

My plan would be if your gonna meet up and swap would be to break your bolts loose then torque them back down before you meet him. That way when you meet him its not as much a pain in the butt to do there and less likely to run into problems. I would advise him to do the same...should make the whole exchange go more smoothly.

Recommendation --- go to the dealer and buy all of the required OEM nuts, bolts and brackets, times 2. Carry that with you, if needed you have it and if not then return to the dealer on Monday. Better safe than sorry, wouldn't want the swap deal to go south over a couple of $0.50 nuts or bolts.

Yeah good idea. I only got the guys initial PM about it. I told him to text or PM me back and haven't heard anything yet. So who knows what's going on
