So my first look at this vehicle was in the dark, test drive in the dark, picked it up in the dark, and dropped it off to my indy for new tires in the dark. Then today, wife worked me like a dog so didn't have time to snap pics until dark. Will try to get some tomorrow during daylight but my honey-do-list is 2 pages.

We're really liking this X5 so far, power on par with ZHP, suspension just as tight, gas mileage will be worse but better than our old Denali. Down side, her ZHP vert & this new X5 are in the garage and my ZHP coupe is sleeping outside tonight, gotta figure out a a better way to park them so I fit inside too.

First mod was the license plate surround, going with a white/black theme.6317
2nd mod, and I hope I'm not being a 'poser, but it just added at least 5HP.

New shoes from yesterday, that 12.5 inches wide from the rear, well that's just an instant stiffie (sorry, they look so damn sexy)

So if it doesn't warrant at least an honorary membership in the family, please say so and I'll delete the stickers.

You and your lower, the boss (her) said she is ignoring you, her soccer mom mobile is not going any lower, she needs the ground clearance. We did a soccer tourney last week for our daughter and parking was in a grass pasture, even my "X" height ZHP got grass caught in in the front bumper. The conv looked like it had just mowed 20 acres, it was worse.

Now I did find a nice mod on TMS where you send your ECU off and they boost HP by 60 and torque 70 --- hmm, trying to figure out how to slide that one in without her noticing.

If you pay, no prob. I told you I hate car payments and broke my own rule to finance half of this one.

Recall, happy wife, happy life. I'm enjoying the ramifications of that right now :)

Very nice! Love those wheels as well. How do you feel the pickup is with the 35i on that big of a vehicle? Our X3 gets up and boogies pretty good, I'd wonder about the bigger X5 though...

Check the weight difference, it only a few hundred pounds. I'm not planning to run it down the 1/4 mile, so we're fine. Stoplight jackrabbit start is almost the same as our ZHPs, mainly because we can't humanly shift as fast as this 8 speed steptronic.

Oh the best part is MPGs, all around town so far and averaging 17.9 FTMFW. Our old Denali was 10 in town, best I ever got on the road was 17.

That's some good mileage for an suv. Stickers are a sweet and warranted addition.

Nice Bruce - I am getting close to be able to actually commit to an X5

Looks good!

It looks like it will be a tight fit to get two cars and a SUV in there!

Yeah I completely agree with you on the get up and go... I don't plan on going for times either, I was just curious if it felt snappy off a light like our X3 does, or if that bigger vehicle might've felt sluggish. But with only a few hundred pounds different, I would imagine they'd be fairly close. As for your mileage, that's not too bad. We usually get 19s, today I looked and we were averaging 19.4. So, that's not bad. I reset all the counters at each fill up, so I'm happy with that. It won't get the mileage or the looks of the ZHP, but its still a great vehicle to drive!

Congrats again on the purchase!

But you're in a different stratosphere of X5 search, can I drive it when you get it?

Vert will go into hibernation soon, it'll fit in the middle, X5 will have the single garage and coupe will saddle up next to the vert. Have done it before, will likely do a test today. If so, I'll snap a pic.

Nice x5. I find the oomph on the stock 3.5i to be satisfying for that type of car - no idea what I'd do with extra power/torque on it. I think if you mashed the pedal against a ZHP, the X would probably jump out to a lead.

Gary drove the X5 about 40 miles today, he'll have to post up his impressions, but I think he was impressed by it, I know I am.

The name of this site might have to change to ZHPandX5mafia.com. :) I think many of us have X5s on here. We love ours... just dumped $3k into it but we still love the thing even at 147k miles (2002 4.4i).
