Budget: $25,000
Desired location of vehicle: Anywhere in Texas
Desired Mileage: Less than 30K, but willing to go up to 40K
Transmission type: Manual (Edit: I don't need a car right now so I decided not compromise here)
Desired number of Doors: Sedan or Coupe, no verts (Edit: I was originally leaning coupe, but the sedans are really growing on me)
Desired Color combos: no preference
Desired Packages: Leather, Premium w/ Lumbar support, and Cold Weather
Funds lined up? Yes
Have a car you need to sell first? No

I had found an auto coupe that was fully loaded, but it turned out to have an accident in its history so I passed on it.

With that budget, you're going to find a great car. We'll all be on the look out for ya, Horns.

Yeah def what Marcus said....

Though that mileage is not unheard of...I think that will be your ,major obstacle.

Not only are you looking for a rare car, but a rare car w/ low mileage.

Welcome to the Mafia.

With that budget you can actually rule out 2004 cars - and go for mid/late 2005 and 06 only - that way you can def. get the leather M steering wheel and avoid alcantara wheel troubles. I think it's possible to find a 05/06 with less than 30k with $25k.

I'm with wash, of course. You should be able to call the shots here.

I know you are essentially looking for a car with half the mileage, but I'll throw this in just in case.

Looks like my search might be over. I put a deposit down on a 2004 Imola Red 330i with 16,500 miles; final purchase price of $22,100. I know I paid more than KBB, but hard to negotiate when the stealership knows it is a ZHP and you call the day after it is listed on Autotrader and ten minutes before they open. Purchase is pending PPI.

Anyone have any recommendations on independent mechanics in Phoenix? I'm thinking of using Bavarian motors LTD or Babbit Motor Werks. Need to call on Monday to see if either has time do it.

Thank you. And thanks for telling me to be picky on the miles.

good, low miles - why do the wheels looks like they're chrome? or is it the excessive lighting ?

The wheels are chrome. Part of the deal is that the dealer is going to swap rims with a ZHP vert they have on the lot. My plan is to refinish the wheels to gunmetal or black, something like Jon D's. http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?522-Refinishing-the-135s-tomorrow-now-what-color/page3

Horns, you have a PM. Referral inside.

Good luck.

Got the report back from the mechanic. the car some minor cosmetic problems, but the major stuff was the following: (1) rear window regulators are noisy, but operational; (2) the fluid in the rear differential mount has leaked out; (3) brake fluid is cloudy; and (4) and the car still has the original fuel filter. The dealer says they will fix the rear differential, flush the brake fluid, and replace the fuel filter, but it will not replace the rear window regulators. I told them I was fine with that because I don't plan on rolling the rear windows down when driving back to Texas, and that is something that I can fix myself. Big thanks to Marcus on the referral, the mechanic saved me a $500 headache on the rear differential mount.
