Cree LED back-up light bulbs?

It would be nice to have some more light when backing into the corner of my garage. I need to get fairly close to the side to have room for both cars and the stock back-up lights aren't all that bright. Tinted rear window doesn't help either.

Or maybe something like this? Might be even brighter as long as it fits ok. I'd guess it might be a bit longer than a regular 7506 or the Cree LED but I have never had my bulbs out to know if clearance might be an issue or not.

I have those, the CREE LED ones from Khoalty.
Very bright and useful when I need to park in reverse. Also useful for telling tailgaters to F off (additional wiring is necessary).
Installation took 3 minutes with a regular flathead screwdriver.

No warning lights, no resistors needed, simple plug and play.

And as for the 2nd pic, I have a variation of those in my turn signals (in the corner of the headlights). 27 individual LEDs on each and they not only get rid of the egg yolk look altogether, but they are brighter and look much better in my opinion with the AE's and fog lights.

They are legal according to the DMV although I've heard from members here that cops will try to get you for them. I personally haven't had any run-ins with them even though I've passed by them on opposite sides of city streets.

Wow I'm going to get a pair of the silver ones from that eBay store and try them out. Since they have other bulbs too I thought I'd order interior lights in the same order. For interior lights I know inside we have T10's and Festoon 39mm's....which of these would be the best for interior application? Some of them come in 10 bulbs for such a low cost!

I'd hate to have to get these in like 3-4 weeks and only have one. Then have to pay another $8 and have to wait another 3-4 weeks..

Will do. Right now though, the car is backed into a corner waiting for better road conditions. I'll probably roll it ahead a bit though to make room to install these and check them out. Also to get the tires to a different spot to help prevent flat spots.

The Ebay auction says 2 pieces so you should be good. It looks like I ordered about a week and a half before you did and mine says expected delivery between Jan. 23 and Feb. 8. China Post tracking page is blank so your guess is as good as mine as far as when they might get here. Last time I ordered something on Ebay from China it took 2 months.

I have them and have been thinking about putting the regular lights back in. Not sure if the bright white light is worth letting cops/others see my plate better....

And although I have the Khoalty CREE LEDs, I believe they said something about theirs not needing resistors for sure while some others may need them. Also they may seem similar and may even be of higher quality but Khoalty is a for-profit company while eBay ones = you may be buying 1) straight from the maker so it's cheaper or 2) it's not as good in quality.
Hope it's the former.

I see one of my cheapo Ebay Cree LED backup bulbs has burnt out already. Time for something better I think. Has anyone tried some of these? Pretty expensive though. I wonder if they are worth the money, if they are going to be noticeably brighter? Lifetime warranty would be nice to have.

Thanks Gary, those look good! Nice and bright. That website seems a little confusing though, they show two different style bulbs when you look for the 1156/7506. They show the single like I have and the multi-LED style like you have. I'd want the multi-LED style.

I just put the khoalty Crees in my car Trevor. They are brighter than stock but its not a night and day difference. That said its hard to tell how bright anything is this time of year when the sun is up 18 hours a day. Let me know if you wanna have a look at them.

LED lights in fluorescent housings are very hard to project the light without scattering it everywhere. Recommend just getting brighter bulbs and polishing the housing.

Did you mean incandescent housings?

I have LED bulbs in all of the housings that matter (brake lights, turn signals), as well as LEDs in the reverse lights. The scattered effect is what you want because it fills the housing and makes it more visible at different angles. My CREE LED bulbs just happen to have projectors on the very top, projecting the light outward directly behind (and front for the fronts) the car, as well as CREE LEDs on the sides of the bulb, allowing the light output to overall be projected outward AND around the housing, allowing for excellent visibility.

Yes...thats the word I was looking for. You think as a man whose grandfather worked for Sylvania out of high school making $0.50/hour I would know that by now...LOL.

But just look at the new LED headlights, and you will see that they project the light into a designed housing that reflects it forward.

I don't know how you would design it so the lights are facing the housing and still work through...science project?!?!
