Will be in Death Valley until Next Tuesday. May post from time to time (late evening; while I am waiting on location for perfect lighting, etc.). Will not be moderating the forum. Will not be adding any new members to the site.

While I am gone, please do not give Dane or Keith a hard time. Especially don't take advantage of Dane, because we all know that he is timid and shy. :biggrin

Are you acclimated to the cold nights yet?

Have fun! I expect to see great shots from you, as you've set a high bar and it's a beautiful place. (no pressure though :) ).

Definitely acclimated. It was in the 20s and 30s during the evenings in San Diego during past week.

Death Valley is calling for temps of 40s at night to low 70s during the day.

Ready to go.

Expecting great stuff. By the way, although I am we'll aware that my new Sony RX100 is a mere compact, non DSLR, it is packed with functions, manual and others, and takes incredible pictures. Have you had the opportunity to try it? It's nice to be able to pull this camera out of m y pocket instead of dragging around my D100.

Have not tried it. ^^

Back in the office.

The final stats:

Walked about 45 miles during the five days I was in Death Valley. Extremely grueling because a lot of it was in the sand dunes.

Put 1100 miles on the car (round trip from San Diego to Death Valley and everything in between).

Took about 1000 pictures.

While I hated Death Valley while I was there (mostly because of the driving and walking), it was a productive trip.

Glad to see you hated it. If you loved it, you weren't working hard enough. :)
