View Full Version : If it can't be a BMW 330 ZHP, it would be?

For me, hands down it would be a 300zx on a Z32 platform.

I'd probably be driving an older 911 turbo. Very likely a 1998 (last of the air cooled turbos).

I am with grzhp. If I could afford more and willing to take the harsher ride the m3. Since I have a wife and kid I am a sedan man for a while. I will have to move up to the 335 or M3 sedan in the future or an S4 sedan or avant even.

If anything, a c63 AMG or M3 V8.

But for anything in my price range as a used zhp, it would be really hard to find another sedan comparable.

In order.

If money was no object but was still within "reasonable" means...
If BMW, then:
E90 335i M-Sport
Z3M Coupe with Euro S50B32 engine swap
E30 M3 Evo

If not BMW variety:
Cadillac CTS-V
Audi RS4
Audi S5
The new Ford Mustang (none of the older rubbish)

If I had to choose for around the same money as I bought the ZHP:
BMW:
E46 M3
E34 M5

Non-BMW:
Wait a while for a used Hyundai Genesis 3.8
Audi S4 (B5)
Honda Civic Si 4-dr
VW GTI
Subaru Legacy GT

Bump. Ran into this thread as a search result on Google for "Hyundai Genesis 3.8 vs ZHP."
Either a G35 coupe, 350Z, or S2000. I love coupes, and have no reason to have 4 until I'm out of college and even then, I won't need a sedan unless I get into a career that requires me to take clients out for lunch/dinner/etc.

Now, about how I got here.....I was just curious. I hate the Genesis coupe drivers around here, acting like they're the shiz. Cutting me off. You drive a Hyundai. Stolen design from Infiniti's G35 coupe.
The red, black, and white 2.0s know to stay away from me now. But the black 3.8 never gives up a chance to take off right next to me.

You do know that Rhys Millen set the new Pike's Peak record in a Genesis?

I don't think there's anything similar between a G35 and the new Genesis coupe. Very different looking cars.

My buddy has an 04 G35 coupe, and to quote him, "it handles like a boat." The entire interior looks and feels incredibly cheap, and the car is slow and underwhelming.

We were both towing sport bikes to a track last summer. I was towing two and had a passenger with his gear, and my buddy was towing a single bike and was alone in the car. He was constantly on the walkie-talkies, asking me to slow down cause he can't keep up uphill. I was cruising. I'd think twice before getting a G35.

The new Genesis on the other hand is a fantastic car and great value.

webster
01-09-2013, 08:34 AM
The Genesis is a piece of crap. Sorry, but my buddy has one (2011 3.8) and it just feels cheap. It's all show and "on paper" performance. The LSD is the best thing about it. It has a high-HP rated engine but I can dust him like nothing. You have to be in a pretty narrow "sweet spot" for the power to hit. The steering is numb and the auto trans is awful.

End rant. Sorry.

I dunno...

If the ZHP didn't exist, I still would have bought an e46 sedan, but I don't think I would have kept it like I did the ZHP...

I'd guess that I'd be in a gently used early 335i (sedan) sport right about now...

I can dream about Farrari's and P-Cars all day, but when push comes to shove I wouldn't be able to afford any of them... A CPO'd 335i sport is more realistic, at least for me...

If money was no problem then I would probably have a 1M for play and an x5 M for daily driving. That would be my dream setup regardless of if the ZHP existed or didn't, I'd keep the ZHP if I ran into money and was able to buy both the 1M and the x5 M tomorrow...

E82 is the 1 series right? I probably still will buy a 135i when I am done with my ZHP. Gently used, as they say. OR, if the back seats are useless (I havent been in one yet), I might consider a last gen 335i sedan. I want to stay as close to the E46 formula as possible. I love its size/feel.

After JUST driving a brand new 135i (E82, correct for the North American Coupe) I have to say this is incredibly close to a ZHP. Granted, its a newer, much faster version, but the overall driving dynamic feels close, as well as the road feel. The noise though is so :drool... A 335i Sedan will feel nothing like a ZHP, much bigger and heavier feeling.

As for the 1 series back seat, it is very small. Someone your size could fit in it for shorter drives, not road trips though... Someone much taller, not so much.

NorCalZman
01-10-2013, 04:54 PM
Fine with me! Thats good to hear. I dont need it to be a road trip car. Just want it big enough to take friends accross town without too much complaining from the back seat. It would probably be cheaper than a 335i too!

Justin Hornung, who is over 6', rode in the back on Kris's 135 from PA to VA with all his travel stuff. I don't think he complained. And I've seen BP in the back on Kris's aswell. He's close, if not over, 6'. He said it was roomy, but I was driving and I'm really short. I've been in the back, I was very comfy, but I had to move up front because I forgot I get carsick. Up front, is definitely better.

Let's pretend I had a ZHP, and then I couldn't have it and had to get something else, I assume it has to be in the same price range, I would try to find a used Lotus Exige.

This is an S model, but I'd be down if I could afford one!
