Anyone heard anything about these?

I know they are overseas but it seems like something that would be pretty decent alternative to a custom 200cell cat setup like supersprint..

I'm fairly interested in these. Although this means the hks exhaust i have would have to be hacked in the middle to work with it..

I read some decent things about them on e46, plus some not answered inquiries. I was somewhat interested in that as well, but know real direct knowledge.

I keep seeing their ads in Roundel and am amazed that a Danish company would advertise month after month. Either Roundel has significant European readership, or Schmiedmann is good at exporting stuff to the US.

This seemed like the perfect solution in California--headers for performance and cats for compliance. I read an article somewhere saying you could re-route the existing post-cat O2 sensors over the transmission, plug them in after the cats, and it would not throw a code. But more recently I read that if you use these with the 6-speed transmission, you have to relocate one of the cats further back to clear the transmission.

Derek -- Please do not hack up that beautiful HKS exhaust, no longer available in the US, I want it if you go to Schmiedmann. Actually, I would think you'd want to keep the HKS and your stock exhaust manifolds intact in case these Schmiedmann headers don't work correctly for CA emissions. But if it does, then you can sell the HKS to me, shipping should be less than $100. Bruce

I don't need to follow visual inspection rules. I just need a system that can past the sniffer dyno test.

I'll keep you in mind Bruce. :thumbsup

Their shipping rates to a business address are superb. You should get them and run a magnaflow resi and rear box.

From a GS3, this was sent.

That sounds like a good idea.. better yet, UUC TSE3 with custom piping. :drool

The header-to-catback outside diamerter is 2.05 inches. Just some extra info.

That would probably be VERY loud.

Let us know if you do it! They have caught my eye as well. A few years ago there was a scuffle about having them imported. As of late I think a few individuals have been successful.

I purchased them and the fitment was ASS

ended up sending back - losing shipping both ways

to go further - their response on the fitment - they had never installed them on a 6 spd - so they had NO idea the difference in length of trans and size

I had to cut a tab/ear off trans housing, hammer a dent in the firewall, modify the trans cross member to almost nothing...the O2 sensor bungs were straight back and still threw CEL.

And - the cats hung SO LOW that I couldnt go over any speed bumps

How were the headers though? Was unaware of the fitment issues of the catted section. Great information.

the tubes on the headers were of a nice design - but when compared to the Supersprint - two of the mounting nuts/studs were IMPOSSIBLE to get to without leaving every bolt loose (this is on the front section) to put on all of the nuts.

The rear section was very easy (it is the first section to install - so access was easy

Wow. Thank you for your experience with this. I wouldn't want to deal with this especially after seeing what you went through. Thanks Stu

That (cat) fitment looks terrible! :foottap

Stuart, so they were designed for STEP, not manual? Do you have a guess as it if they would fit better on STEP?

i believe they created these for the auto - but, I would still be concerned with fitment and the size of the cats

That sucks. I've had nothing but good experiences with schmiedmann.

You used those same headers or are you talking different parts?
