Please sign up if you're interested in stay at the Hilton Garden Inn (http://hiltongardeninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels/virginia/hilton-garden-inn-williamsburg-PHFWHGI/index.html) for the Family Reunion.

Last year many of us stayed there. It's as close as you can get to Dane's without staying at Dane's. It's located on the "strip" of Williamsburg with places to eat, shop and wash your car. And most important it's extremely clean and the staff are polite.

Last year I paid ~$130/night using Hotels.com booked ~1month in advance. Currently, a quick search on Hilton's site returned a price of $209/night. And a search on Hotels.com returned a price of $179/night.

Both are pretty steep, IMO. Depending on how much interest we get in this thread, we might be able to set up a group rate, and have our own 'block' of the hotel.

If we can't get the price down further, I may not stay here, just saying.

Ok, again, if you're interested please sign up.

Guys, as soon as the list is somewhat solidified....I'll drive over there and inquire about group rates and such, and about getting a block of rooms, per se.

Let's put a drop dead date on this of March 1st.

Sound good?

Yeah Ry, I noticed this year the rates are higher than they were last year but it was a very nice hotel to stay at so I plan to stay there again this year....even with the higher rates....

Ok, it looks like some people are rooming together, so I have another suggestion.

Wydham VR Kingsgate. They have 1 room condos and 2 room condos available during the meet.
1 room condo is $169/night, and sleeps four. (they say) There's a queen bed in the bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa.
2 room condo is $189/night and sleeps six. (They say) 1 king bedroom, 1 queen bed room, and a queen sleeper sofa.

The condos have all the amenities of a normal hotel with the added benefit of washer/dryers, and kitchens in the room.

If we like this route we can try to get all the condos near each other, and maybe a group rate.

The reviews are ify so you guys do some reading and see what you think.

There's a Wyndham Governor's Green. But they only have 2 bedroom Condos available during the meet. It gets better reviews, seems to be more adult friendly, while kingsgate is more child oriented. The 2 bedroom condos are $169/night.

I think Kate and I would be up for splitting a condo with another person or couple. Good find ry
Edit: Kate and I will be more adult oriented this weekend.

I agree, we should steer away from the kid friendly place.

As for adult oriented, you two make my liver ache in fear.

I'm in for any of the above options though.

Okay....I was able to get my reservations completed through the Hilton Honors program to secure a room at the Hilton Garden Inn - Williamsburg for the reunion dates...:) That means I will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn for the reunion dates. :)

I'm still undecided on where I want to stay. The Hilton was really nice, but we've got a lot vacations planned this year and $200+/night is more than I want to pay. I'm waiting a little closer to the meet to see if the prices come down.

I still like the idea of the multi-bedroom condos. It would be a great alternative for the people attending alone.

Bringing this back up................So are people leaning towards the Hilton Garden in or elsewhere?

I would like to get my reservations in within the next week or two.

On a side note, If anybody wants to split room cost, I can. Be forewarned, I am a early riser and have been told I snore(LOL). 60 year old male if that matters.

At one point Dane was going to see about a "group" rate

Don't know if that happened.

I never got a solid list who was wanting to get a block of rooms. I can't ask for a block of rooms, not knowing names and number of people staying.

Could always use airbnb.com to search for houses or something. I usually tend to use this over getting a hotel in NYC.
