UUC, H&R

If you are going with shorter springs it will kill your shocks. Almost always best to go coilover and do both at once. I think Dane has these if I remember http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330i-M54_3.0L/Suspension/Coil_Overs/ES248295/ i could be wrong. He will chime in.

Check out the suspension form.

Yup, I agree that short springs will also shorten the life of your shocks. Just buy a set of coilovers and be done with it.

Buy nice or buy it twice.

My car has KW V2 coilovers and I absolutely love them.

+1 on the KWs. I was not sure about budget for the OP but this is the route I will be taking when it is time for new shocks. I will just clean it all up with those.

With the KW V2 coilovers you can adjust not only ride height but also adjust the rebound damping.

You can do that with my setup as well. Do the KW's carry a lifetime guarentee?

Yes, lifetime warranty.

Also, no problem using these in harsh climates.

I've read that this is the best setup without going coilover

Not worth it when there are great coilover options in that same price range that give you more flexibility.

I think I'm gonna pick that combo up on Monday.

Edit: just saw Mimalmo's post. What CO kit would you most recommend for $1000 or under?

KW's ST line is about 1k
http://www.modbargains.com/_e/E46_Suspension/product/ST_Coilovers_E46_RS/_ST_V1_Coilovers_E46_3_Series.htm

Dane probably knows a few others around that price since he bought his not that long ago.

You can get a decent Tein SS...for around that.

I think you may be able to score a Bilstein PSS9 setup for around that if you can find a deal.

I was lookin at 3 setups when I pulled the trigger. Billies, FK, and KW's. The FK's went on sale to $700 and change so I bought them. Immediately after buying...they went up to $1200.00.

What makes coilovers better than the Koni/Eibach kit? Just the fact that its adjustable?

Depending on your usage, adjustability is worth its weight in gold. You can adjust for street usage and then for track usage when you want to have some fun without the drawbacks of the street setup.

What he said.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I can adjust my suspension in about an hour from stock height to slammed......for whatever reason I come up with.

I could see the use in that, especially during winter mode. The car already sits too low to the ground with the 16's on, I can only imagine what it would be like another inch and a half lower. It would turn into a friggin snow plow!

Coilover's are just replacements for your stock shocks, correct? That means you would have to buy a set a springs too?

No....everything is a complete setup.

Front shocks/coilovers have springs......

and rear shocks come with springs......like below.
