View Full Version : Yellow Fog: Lamin-X, Paint or replace with new

I really want to do yellow fogs and don't just want bulb's as I'd like the color on the front of the car.

Having read up on this, some say the Yellow from Lamin-X is to "pale" However if I paint them, that's permanent. Replacement sets aren't too expensive too, but I'd like to go with the Lamin-X if it's not too pale

So, that being said who's gone with what? Any pictures of the Lamin-X to show how "pale" it may be?

Thanks!!!

As I mentioned via PM, I went with yellow from modbargains and was very happy.

Thanks guys. I think the product, Lamin-X will be fine. My bigger concern is the actual color.

I've got to pick up a passenger fog light surround piece so while I'm doing that, I'm going to plasti-dip the lower grill to match the kidneys and while I'm doing that I might as well do the fog light covers.

get the yellow lens fog housings off eBay, then you can always just throw the clear originals back in if you want a change

Interesting concept. Link?

I found the whole units on ebay but am concerned with reliability.

Yellow LaminX isn't pale at all.
When I first turn them on, they're full-on green for a few seconds while the HID bulbs warm up. After that, they're bright yellow. The film does a perfect job with the color change.

I'm heading down in a few; I'll take a pic for you.

Update:

Here are the night shots:

First warming up (without Xenons on):

^ You can see that it almost overpowers the Xenons if you have HIDs for your fogs.

Note: Mine are standard 4.3k bulbs with just a yellow LaminX film over the lens.

Family to the rescue!!! Thanks gents. I guess now that I re-read I should have been more specific.

I meant pale as in fog lights off. Not so much with them on which is why I inquired with them off. ZHP is TiAg so I'll see some contrast.

To me, it looks like the Ebay full deal may be it. I like how much color it has, when off. I wonder if I can swap the lenses or not. If not, I may pull mine and set them to the side for now.

Again you guys ROCK!

Yes but with the white bulbs and just the lamin-x it is a very pale yellow. That is why I went with the Nokya bulbs as well

lenses can't be swapped, they're glued in. Just buy the housing, it's easy to change the whole thing (one bolt)

Believe so yes. I think all the pics I posted have bulbs in them. I swapped them out over a year ago.
