In January we got 45,200 unique visitors, 82,000 visits, 1.4 million page views, 4 million hits, and we transferred 66.3 GB of data.

In February we got 41,200 unique visitors, 72,500 visits, 1.2 million page views, 3.3 million hits, and we transferred 46.7 GB of data.

In March we got 51,100 unique visitors, 89,800 visits, 1.35 million page views, 3.6 million hits, and transferred 52.8 GB of data.

For the first quarter, then, we got 137,500 unique visitors, 244,300 visits, 3.95 million page views, 10.9 million hits, and we transferred about 166 GB of data.

For a site that people said wouldn't amount to much, I'd say these are healthy figures.

With the exception of visits, we achieved records for every category during the first three months of 2013. We've never transferred more data, we've never had more hits, and we've never had as many page views.

Our next major milestone is fast approaching as well. We're just under 250,000 posts for the site. Having a quarter million posts doesn't make us a player but it does mean that our members are active. As I've said before, reaching 500,000 is the number that I watch. When we get there, I think it will be safe to say that ZHPMafia.com has some staying power.

Amen.

Thanks for the data Mark. Well done.

I Still think we should shut the site down.

The site wouldn't be where it is today without all of you.

Thanks for supporting the site.

Marcus that's awesome! One question if I visited in January, February, and March, would I be counted as 1 or 3 unique visitors for the first quarter?

Good numbers Boss, I don't see this site disappearing any time soon.

Gets better as it ages too.

I don't know if they reset each month as a unique+visitor. At most you would be a unique visitor once a month, though. My guess is that you are not a unique visitor each month. Instead, you just become a visitor.

If he is using google analytics it does not reset. I'm not sure what mark uses for analytics though.

I'm using the analytics that the server company provides. Not sure what software they use.

True. Some people cannot understand this, though.

Actually, they do reset everything every month. You are a unique visitor every month.

However, depending on which computer you're using, where you're using it, etc... You're probably actually 4-5 unique visitors. My phone and laptop, used separately at school, work, and home probably account for 6 different unique visitors. These stats aren't really 100% reliable. The pageviews, hits, and bandwidth are much more accurate - on the AwStats/Webalizer logs that I assume these numbers are from.

Mark - if you want data closer to reality, installing Google Analytics (free) on the site would probably be a good idea. It has way more measurements, statistics and data on your visitors (country, computer, OS, browser, etc.). Google uses algorithms based on your location, device specs, history, etc. to determine whether you're a returning or a first-time visitor, and as such is way more extensive than the basic on-server stuff.

Actually, it is AwStats. That's the one I view.

And thanks for the information on Google. I use that for other sites I own and control.

Excellent!

I can honestly say I'm a searcher. So with all of the issues i've been having, I attempt to search using this sites search function, but I also GTS (google that $hit) too out of habit. This site comes up A LOT in my searches so I'm not surprised by these numbers.

Most importantly, I'm happy to be part of it.

We get quite a bit of google traffic. I'm not surprised, either. We get a lot of the ZHP searches for sure.

is it okay to promote one of our DIYs over at E46fanatics and/or Bimmerforums? I just completed writing my first one a few days ago.

That would be a pretty crappy stats program if it couldn't accurately keep track of unique visitors. It's hard to say for certain what technique they use but the site does record your numerical userID and last visit into a cookie with an expiration date greater than 30 days so I would assume it uses those.

That means if you browsed as a guest from two different computers that would look like two unique visitors but once you login they would all count as one.

It would be interesting to track guests and users separately and compare those stats.
