I know this is pretty specific, but several of you picking up the new GoPro Hero 3 black may appreciate a place to share tip, tricks, and swag.

Question regarding the suction cup mount that comes with the unit.

Would this be a trustworthy mount? I mean, do people typically feel comfortable with it mounted to say a nice clean hood or roof?

Side note, all that footage was shot right around the corner from where I live! The blue pyramid is on the Long Beach State campus, and the hilltop lookout is on the top of Signal Hill. Go, local references!

As long as the surface is clean, I trust it with my camera. it's pretty damn strong. I stick it on my front bumper during my track days and have no problem with it. I just make sure its clean and there is a good flat seal.

The suction cup mount is extremely sturdy. Everyone at autox uses it.

I have a suction mount and tripod mount that I can attach to my head post mount I had fabricated. The quality of the video is excellent. Using the proper case, the sound is pretty good too.

I just wish they allowed the suction cup mounts at our HPDE's. The rules are so retarded. They have to be HARD mounted AND tethered. Give me a friggin' break...

I will try to post some pics of my different mounts and will take some sample vids/pics for you tomorrow if I have time.

Of course it is. You don't have to use it with the car only. :D You can do timelapse photos on the ship too :D

^^I like those RED three ways! Mainly b/c they're red. The gold handlebar adapter looks like it could be used to hook around the head rest in the car too.

As far as video quality goes, I don't think there's a difference. I don't see a need to spend the extra money.
