Traveling very lightly. Bringing one bag. Not bringing any camera gear. Not bringing wife or baby.

I depart on Thursday morning and arrive in Richmond, VA, at dinnertime on Thursday night.

Expect to see some updates from the airports (San Diego, Atlanta, and Richmond) on Thursday.

Just got delayed a bit more. My connector window just shrunk to 21 minutes.

Last year the same thing happened. Last year, though, I actually arrived too late to catch my connector in Houston. Luckily that flight from IAH to SAN was also running late.

We will see what happens this time around.

So a little relevant information: Pilots do not get paid when a plane is delayed at the gate. The second the plane leaves the gate, the pilots are on the clock. No wonder they're always in a hurry to leave the gate and don't care about being stuck on the taxiway/runway for a few hours...

Going home tomorrow. The reunion meet has been extended a day.

The good news is that I still have first class accommodations tomorrow.

I simply missed work tomorrow and wasted several hours today. But these really are first-world problems. No big deal. Life goes on.

The jam up in Atlanta, infuriated a passenger on Mark's plan, so they had to call security and taxi back to gate. Small piece of the puzzle, but is what brought them back to gate for fuel, and ultimately is when many passengers exited plane.

Terrible weather in Atlanta caused DC ATC to stop all traffic heading south for several hours.

We sat on the runway hoping that we could leave if a window opened up. Did not happen. In fact, we were getting close to needing more fuel, so our pilot said that, if we did not depart at 7:32pm eastern, we would need to head back to gate to refuel. Understand that we were originally scheduled for a 4:45pm departure.

At just about the time we were going to get clearance to go, an upset passenger caused a ruckus at the back of the plane. Our pilot had no choice but to taxi to the gate, which effectively sealed my fate for the evening. The passenger was removed from the plane. The rest of the passengers deplaned.

It was at that point that I knew I was staying at Dane's place again. Since my Atlanta connector to San Diego would not be available (I was too late to catch any of the remaining flights to San Diego), I immediately made arrangements to fly out today from Richmond, VA. I have the same seats that I had for my flights yesterday.

All and all, just a minor inconvenience. I've flown enough lately to see all sorts of airport issues. Just rolling with the punches is all you can do.

Unfortunately, first class does not get free wifi -- but it should.

It's $14 for a 24-hour pass. I do a lot of emailing and text messaging on flights, so it's worth it to me.

Marcus- Sorry to hear of all the trouble yesterday, but extended reunion FTW. If I didn't have a wife and baby at home, Dane would've been stuck with me until he had to physically remove me from the property. I could've stayed up there for a while! Safe travels back to the Left Coast buddy.

I can promise that San Diego won't work as a destination for the reunion.

Why? Not enough participation. People on the west coast simply do not support, nor participate enough, to pull off a west coast reunion. The east coast members are the driving force behind this site. They have been historically and that remains true today.

As such, it would make no sense to drag east coast people to the west. That's why people like me, Rando, and CW are going to remain burdened when it comes to travel.

If anyone wants to discuss alternative spots for a reunion, they should hit up Dane and Keith. Discussing it in my travelogue it not the place for it.

Okay, it's official... The ///M and I finally made it home today around 12:30 this afternoon after starting south over three weeks ago. It was a fun but long trip. We logged 1,400 miles together in three weeks. It was a fun trip with a few minor hiccups but we got thru it in one piece ;)
