Glad you're getting it sorted out!
awesome update! so it WAS a vacuum leak, haha... (CCV hose)
glad you sorted it out. with so much going on, it's easy to miss stuff. how is it running now after a bit of a drive?
Hard. Core!
Love it!
Thanks Guy! was some serious work to get er done but so worth it. I've already lost one car this year, and even though my ownership of the ZHP has been the shortest of any car, I am more attached to this car than any of its predecessors.
I drove it home this Friday, 3 hours of miscellaneous California highways to get to Santa Barbara. Waze took me on an AWESOME canyon road that I have never been on before. This is one of those roads where you tremble in your seat going slow. There was no guard rail and only a few feet on the side of the road before a 1,500ft drop down the side. The view was stunning and I held it in second or third and just used the engine breaking to stay at a constant speed.
I will stop and take photos next Friday. the view is Jaw dropping.
Car drove great. Had a slight mishap with the plastic screw that is on the hose that leads into the top of the expansion tank. It broke and was weeping coolant. Luckily, I was able to get it out and put the old one in its place. Will be doing some small things today including reinstalling the horns (doh!), spray painting the oxidize grill, reinstalling splash pan, and tearing down the old head lights to extract good parts.
Car will be fired up tomorrow morning around 4AM PST for a blast down Route 1 to Malibu. This is a much preferred route to get to work, but you need to be up early for it to be open and rewarding. Going to check fluids today to make sure everything is in order.
Phew

Got the horns back in and they still are working which is good. Did a quick spray paint job on the lower grill and bumper trim pieces. Came out mostly decent. Going to lightly sand it at work tomorrow with some insanely high grit count sand paper (used for polishing titanium jet engine parts) and will give it a second coating. Should even i tout some.
Pictures are misleading as the sun was still shining through the trees some. Not bad I'd say. I still need to hit the fog light trim pieces with matte black. Going to slowly improve the looks of the car and get everything aligned and fitted just right. Important thing is its running again!

Damn, I'm impressed. It's no easy feat to get a car back up and running, but you did it!
Lower grille looks good too
Thanks BMWCurves. It was quite the feat but so worth it. It is ridiculous how insurance companies operated within the US and by no means was this car totaled. Honestly, the work wasn't too hard, just time consuming.
Can't wait for the end of next week. New hood should be one and will have my Vibrant muffler on as well :thumbsup
