Holding the DSC button down (>3 seconds) disables DSC and DTC. Pushing it once only disables DSC. Lemme check the owners manual....for sure.
DTC=Dynamic Traction Control.
There is also CBC (Cornering Brake Control)
It's on page 87....

It turns off the traction control and active stability control, I believe if you just tap it on and off only the traction control light comes on
(not fully turned off) until you hold it for five seconds. It has been a while since I had an E36 so I dont recall.
Dane beat me to it
Is it really effective? Like does it really work?
Meric, since you live in Canada, when it is snowing out, take the car out, drive with traction control off. Then press the DSC button briefly and drive. Then press and hold the DSC button until both lights turn on, then drive. You will notice your car drift more and more haha. I live in CT, I have done that test to see the effectiveness of traction control. It really does make a difference.
Yea everytime i press the gas pedal that DSC sign was flashing at me. Hmmm. I cant drive my ZHP in winter because i have sports tires on it and I have an SUV so my baby is going to garage for 4-5 Months. :( Thank you soo much for informations!
+1. I will not ever drive in wet/snowy with dsc off. It makes a drastic difference.
