So inevitably my rear right window regulator broke.
What is the consensus on fixing it? Just the zip-tie fix, or are there better repair options available?
Ebay yields some fix kids, but I always take these with a grain of salt.

I think I read that the zip-tie fix only applies to the front windows.
I’d replace it (I installed zip ties on the new one in an effort to prevent future failures).
Replace it.

Send it...I meant replace it
Purchasing from FCPEuro, with their lifetime replacement guarantee, means it'll be the last one you will pay for. They sell original BMW units.
URO has a "Premium window regulator" with features like ball bearing pulleys to reduce motor load and extend regulator life via re-engineering and eliminating the failure points found in stock window regulators. Premium regulators also feature a life time warranty to ensure this is the last regulator you will ever need.

I have the URO Premium regulator and can say that it still pops and creaks occasionally. I've only had it for 2 years or so and it's been doing it for quite a while. But, it still works fine. The occasional LOUD POP I hear every once in a while startles me, but hasn't affected the operation just yet.
I bought this guy:

I'll report back. It looks like it has a metal housing as opposed to a plastic one.
Just ran across this thread...I bought one of the URO 'Premium' window regulators for my wife's previous E53 X5. Exactly one year later, it failed. The seller did warranty the failed regulator, but buyer beware...from my experience these 'premium' regulators are no better than the $25 regulators you can get from eBay. And yes, I actually use those $25 eBay regulators and they have lasted longer than a year. Matter of fact, around 3 years now and going strong.
