Another Airbag Recall?
Here we go again.....Just got an email for another recall regarding airbags. This time it's the inflator... how does Takata stay in business?
Summary:
PASSENGER'S FRONT AIR BAG: This recall is for vehicles which have already had the Takata PSPI passenger front air bag replaced as part of a previous recall. During air bag deployment in an accident, the passenger's front air bag module may produce excessive internal pressure that could cause the inflator to explode.

unreal, guess I need to call the dealer and inquire as to whether or not they are aware of this/try to get ahead of it by scheduling an appt.
-
I bet they may not know....if you follow the link, NHTSA states:
Recall Status: Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available
-
The BMW Store Cincinnati may do what they did with my driver side airbag and put me on a "list" of first come first serve callers and then give me a ring when the parts come in.
-
Dang! Hope I receive this letter too.
It sucks to have to do it, but parts of me appreciate going to dealership and get out of there for free! Especially as I have never bought a BMW from a BMW dealer.
Thanks for the heads-up

just click on the VIN link.

Another Airbag Recall?
I had both front driver's and passenger's side airbags replaced during the last recall....shit.....

Looks like I will contact my dealer today based on this new recall....
EDIT: My M3 is scheduled for airbag replacement in February
-
looks like the recall is for the inflators this time, not the airbags. Sounds like we all get to go to the dealer again.....
-
I called the BMW Store in Cincinnati and they are apparently aware of this recall, but don't have the parts in yet. I don't know how I will be notified when the parts are in at the dealer, so I guess I'll have to check periodically via the phone.
I would anticipate that I'll probably get this done in late February or March, hell, maybe even early spring if it goes the same way as the airbag replacement went.
Edit: thank you for posting the link for the VIN check
-
Thank you for bringing that to our attention. I was not aware of that and I did not recieved anything yet.
I am on the same boat as Charlie, where both airbags were replaced, but nothing was done to the inflators.
I hope nerds at Jalopnik will post something about that.
