BP, I'm in pretty much the same boat - don't really care to spend $50 on dinner, not my kind of thing or my kind of dining. However.....Dairy Queen is right up my alley! Maybe we can have an alternative meet up for those who aren't going to the dinner...
Dane, I'm going to edit the attendance list for the Family Reunion and remove my name from Friday night - I'll be in town, but not at the dinner.
I'm just going to say it... that sounds like a great place and experience, but I could have just as good time chatting it up at a IHOP with you guys. The $50 is a lot to spend for a meal that I will enjoy, but the people are what make this such a great experience and not the venue. No offense just my 2 cents.
That said, I also would like a dairy queen meet :)
Not a lot of ground being made here. Appreciate any comments from those attending.
I have no qualms with this venue and the price point. I think we need to keep the fact that the $50 is not just for the food on the table, but the fact that this venue is setup to handle our numbers and do so in a way that we will all enjoy. Not to mention it has a lot more character and ambiance than an IHOP...I can drive down the street and get a stuffed french toast platter, when I drive 7+ hours I want to go somewhere unique and experience new places, in this case one of the oldest restaurants/hotels in the country. To do so with a group of folks I'm excited to meet and converse with is even better.
That said, what is the plan for dinner Saturday night after road rally? I wasn't there on the Friday night of the NJ Reunion, but I seem to remember everyone saying folks just hung out and did their own thing Friday night and our big dinner was Saturday night. My thoughts toward having this Friday is that DQ and that sort of food actually does sound good to me after being on the road all day...rather just chill out and talk cars and keep things simple. Get a good night sleep in, enjoy ourselves Saturday and then have a nice meal at the Golden Lamb followed by maintenance the next day.
tl;dr Venue/price works for me considering ambiance and setup. Wondering about Saturday dinner here instead?
Valid point. I can shift the date if need be.
