Sorry about those bolts, never fun. I am really surprised those rear shock mounts are already toast. What are you going to replace them with?

well, at least they aren't 100% critical bolts... i mean, the one for the aluminum cross brace is important, but i will drive it on 7 bolts to the shop to get them to drill out the other one. :)
i already have some rogue RSMs from the ZHP, so those are going in - an extremely good product for the Touring as it allows rear shock changes without having to tear apart the interior!
Looks like my garage... organized chaos LOL.
I always throw a big comforter on the roof of my car and pile stuff on it when I run out of room...
The prep work sucks, I hate it. It's much worse when you are OCD but finished product wouldn't be as nice without it...
last night's progress...
- dismantled old 325iT rear end and got it out of the garage
- first pass on cleaning up rusty spots on RACP underside; mostly focused on the subframe mounting points
i think i spent 2hrs just grinding with a couple of different wire wheels, and then degreasing the RACP with POR-15 degreaser. once the VinceSkinz are epoxied and riveted on, i will paint them - and other previously-rusty bits i've cleaned up - with POR-15 gloss black.
tonight, i am hoping to drill out the subframe mount holes through to the cabin, and then mark out and cut the VinceBar and front gusset cup mounting locations. also, mock up the VinceSkinz and mark out their perimeter so i can grind away all necessary paint where they will be epoxied to the RACP.
and at some point i need to remove the engine and trans. ;)
How did you keep the floor of your garage clean while degreasing?
I was thinking a thick sheet of plastic would be something that could completely cover the floor then just roll up and throw away
subbed
