There is something very cathartic about walking into a room with a pile of BMW parts.
-
I traded in my rental Hyundai for a Ford Escape to fit them all
I am now wishing I did not buy one of the parts thought.... GD PITA oil pan gasket

Yeah boi. Put in 10 hours today. Was about to fire up the engine and was like wait a minute. I forgot the air box was off. Then I forgot the air box at the office. If I can find a hood tonight, I'll take tomorrow off and get it done. If not, rental car next week :/

Thanks! I won't be working on the car this long weekend as I'll be driving up to my place in Santa Barbara, but I'll upload pics. Lots of pictures to dump and resize. I am happy with how it came out so far. Only challenges left will be fixing the passenger side hood hinge, then aligning everything once the new hood is mounted.

So iPhone is dead and I left the charger at work. next time I leave the house, I'll pick up a cheapo cord and get some pics up in here.
In the meantime, need some new lenses for my used headlights. Is khoality the way to go?? Last item besides a hood and the car is good to go!

So in trying to find a hood locally, I came across a carbon fiber hood painted black for $500, but its for an M3. Now form what I have read, the M3 has slightly smaller grills, and this kind of makes an M3 hood look weird on a ZHP. My thoughts were this. Pick the hood up at a lower price if possible, then dremel the openings to install the new matte black w/ ///M colors grills I just picked up off of ebay.

I may have to adjust the fenders, but after all the work I have done so far, this should not be hard. Plus I will be fiddling with fitment anyways, as I need to align the front panel with the hood, bumper, and headlights. Will achieve even panel gap!
Should I go the route of the M3 hood if I could get it $400? I am very comfortable with a dremel. Or is it not worth my time and hold out for a Sedan hood of some type?
