I made the same mistake of test driving a newer BMW (340i with adaptive suspension and M-sport brakes etc) over the weekend. Almost all aspects blew the E46 out of the water.

Parts used:

1) 3/8" tubing
2) 10mm metric screw (length does not matter)
3) Clamp (forget the size)

I think the leak might be from the coolant drain plug on the engine block. Maybe it needs a bit of tightening or the crush washer is toast?

Installed a new fuel pump relay as preventative maintenance. Also wired up the AEs using a fuse tap and connecting it to fuse #23.
