Yes. They're independent systems. I recommend new intake manifold gaskets for reinstallation.
Oh, maybe the hose / pipe leaking near the back of the motor and ingress into the bell housing via the starter-motor opening.

Those attach to the left side of the transmission.
Sounds like you have an AT. The only things within the bell housing for an auto transmission are the flywheel / ring gear, and torque converter....
Any check engine light / codes?
Maybe cracked block / cylinder head, or head gasket failed? There's nothing coolant related within the bell housing.

Is that coming from inside the bellhousing?
How bad was the overheat? These engines don't handle overheats very well.
