I think the DEF leak is responsible this time since this was under a felt panel :biggrin that stuff is crazy corrosive apparently.

The F31 got its first DIY projects last month. I retrofitted an iDrive 6 setup out of a wrecked 2018 440i to get CarPlay and newer functionality. Nice upgrade and straightforward to install and code....
This is in Sacramento but maybe can get to you quick enough ? https://www.ebay.com/itm/284616226390
Mid-winter salt cleanup on the touring. Was well overdue.

Give it a couple years and I'll be back at it lmao
First work on the F31d since picking it up in January: brake flush. Nice change of pace from the (extremely) high mileage life :thumbup

I had the same issue. I drove the car in east coast winters from 2012 to 2016, no rust issues visible at all. I moved to the west coast for 3 years (no salt and barely any winter exposure in that...
Doubt there's any solution to this other than running a dehumidifier in the garage or moving to Arizona...
I've all but given up on rust on mine after the same findings. I've got the rear arches/fenders and the little part between the trunk and the bumper that are all bubbly (and some perforation in a few...
Just dropped it off at my upholstery guy for driver's seat repair!
:rofl
Pressure washed the salt out of my interior carpets. Surprisingly effective, and the carpet is sealed enough that you can pick up the water for a minute or so before it can sink in.

Yup, I had mine serviced last summer. Freon was ~1/3 of original capacity. Ran me a $150 or so to recharge. Might be more expensive if you have a serious leak.
Game on!

Intake plenum = the boots?
Wow. What engine is it ? I'm attempting to replace my starter tomorrow afternoon and have a sneaky feeling that I'll end up in the same scenario. Knock on wood.
I'm picking up the car today, I'll ask them. From my understanding they're custom - they have quite a portfolio of restored E30s and E24s that had destroyed floors, so they probably commission their...
I'm also having the car played under this weekend - seriously, f*** those exhaust bolts.
I gave the car some well due gifts for its 400,000km birthday. Subframe was initially supposed to be...
I'm installing M3 engine and tranny mounts next weekend! Can't wait to see the difference.
Today I installed a passenger seat mat sensor bypass. Quick installation and seems to work great. Glad to...
What happened ?
I dropped off my ZHP at the shop and I'm driving an Elantra Sport while they're replacing my driver's door. A true appliance. I feel like I'm driving a Whirlpool dryer. Kinda wish...
Sweet! In Canada the environmental regulations require shops to inspect the system for leaks and do a full service prior to filling the freon if its level is under 50%. The whole thing ran me $150...
A/C service yesterday. 1h30 of shop time for full flush, vacuum test with nitrogen, fill with R134a, and lubricate compressor. Freon was about 1/3. [emoji300]️

All done! Did sealant and full interior, and lubricated all the rubber seals with Gummi-Pfledge.
Full detail in progress! I hadn't done one in the last year and a half. Clay was a disaster, the whole ball was black. I was well overdue. Cut and polish done, and sealant time now!
