    Z3 shifter in ZHP?

I tried searching, but didnt find much...

Has anyone tried a z3 shifter in their zhp? what are your impressions?

I know understeer sells a kit at a very reasonable price, and I installed one on a friend's
e30 with good results, but curious to see how they are on the e46

    Thanks,
    Navid

    I am using a Z3M shifter.

The shifter itself doesn't exactly in the middle and hitting 5th gear is close to the right side a bit. it's not significantly noticeable once you are used to it. The shifts are nice and price and much shorter. All you really need is new shift lever. If you are at it up there anyways, I would redo the shifter bushing as well.

The shift itself needs to be shaven at the bearing side to fit the lever as well.

    Comparion Z3M to ZHP.

here is the list of parts I ordered from BMW for it

    [X]Shift Lever Bearing 25 11 1 220 600
    [X]Plastic washer 25 11 1 220 439 x4
    [X]Securing Clip 25 11 7 571 899 x2
    [X]Bearing Oval 25 11 7 519 670 x2
    [X]Bearing Bolt 25 11 7 529 078
    [X]Bearing Bolt 25 11 7 529 079
    [X]Z3M Shift Lever 25 11 7 527 254
    [X]Bearing 25 11 1 222 015

Thanks for the response Derek, I have also heard that z4 shifter fits without modification, maybe that would be the route to go...

I dunno about the E46 guys, but on the E36M they needed to pre-bend the Z3M to fit.

I bought a BMW Performance SSK for my car. I said screw the boot and knob, and picked up the shifter itself for $60
