I need a core VANOS unit as I stripped the threads where the exhaust camshaft sensor attaches - it's not repairable.
If you have a spare, please PM me with the mileage, condition (trashed seals, rattles, etc), the car it's from and if it's been rebuilt recently. I don't need the solenoids nor the camshaft sensor.

This is probably the best option. Otherwise, you could call a salvage yard that has an E46 with a blown head and ask them for the VANOS from that engine. That may be the best way to go after trying the Heli-coil. If all else fails, I may have something that will work for you.Originally Posted by danewilson77
