M3 SMG in Bay Area - 73K miles $21,500

Ticking time bomb with SMG and I see no mention of service... for that price I would buy a higher mileage manual that was well taken care of

I don't like SMG at all! But being an 06, the car falls right at that price, and is actually on the low side even with that mileage. It has Nav, CSLs, and appears to be super clean!

It's hit or miss really. There are some early cars, that have been tracked all their life with absolutely no issues and then there are 06s with low miles with SMG pump failure. Basically, at the end of the day it is a very complicated unit that costs a lot to fix/replace if out of warranty. Which they all are now.

Are you referring to SMG I, SMG II, or both?

II - specifically it was an E46 M3 that was at my buddies shop for its second go around with the transmission. Maybe 20k miles in between issues

SMG might be better on the track, but I'll take a 6spd over the Smg in the E46 M3. I hear the E9x M3, and the E60 M5 DCt's are pretty good though..
