    Oil temperature drop?

This morning I downshifted to 3rd, bringing the car to 3k rpms. Seconds later the display changes from time (what I always have it set to), to exterior temperature (37 degrees). The exterior temperature begins flashing and beeping. I was quite startled when I noticed that my oil temperature dropped by a quarter of an inch. In a matter of seconds the oil temperature returned to where it should be. The car was completely warmed up before I left my the driveway.

What happened? Should I worry about it?

What car do you drive? M3? I didn't think the ZHP had an oil gauge.

The beep and 37 degree thing is standard and let's you know if might be icy out. Freaked me out the first time it happened.

A zhp. I guess I'm just a noob then haha. I always thought the temperature gauge represented oil temperature.

So it had nothing to do with the sudden drop in temperature?

We don't have oil temp on our car.

Your coolant temp may have dropped but that would be T-Stat related.

Yep, could simply indicate the t-stat opening with a really cold radiator which could make the temp gauge drop suddenly. This happening the same time as the 37 degree warning going off is only a coincidence.
