We’ll be taking a 1,800 mile road trip this summer and I’m playing with the idea, of taking the ZHP. The car is nearing 160K and most maintenance is current. Things that I haven’t done are the fuel pump and filer and the PVC system.
The car runs and drives fine and I just replaced the battery and mass air flow meter.
Looking for thoughts, on just driving it or, do some work and spend some money first.

Definitely either change or at least put a fresh fuel pump in the trunk if you're ok with a roadside swap. I was lucky enough to show symptoms instead of a sudden failure, but most E46 owners are not. I think that's the only time bomb in these cars though...well...outside of the cooling system...
And the fuel filter would be a good idea for gas mileage alone.
I’ve done quite a few >1000 miles road trips on my zhp. As Nate said, replacing the fuel pump is a good idea. I’d also think about replacing the radiator due to age. I’ve replaced mine at 125k miles (176k now) because it was just before summer and I had a lot of road trips planned and I didn’t want to be stranded. My thinking was, I needed to replace it sooner or later so it wasn’t a question of saving money and since I bought it from fcp, I don’t have to pay for it again...

This one plays well with my xtrons and is low profile enough that I just leave it in the port
