Installed mine in 2017 and no problems so far. I did both that and the water pump pulley

Awesome thanks, I know üro stuff is typically frowned upon so I was hesitant.

    That's good to know, t.er.

Avoid the Uro trunk struts. I tried them and I thought they were going to rip the trunk off the hinge; opened far too forcefully. Only took one opening for me to toss them in the trash and order Stabilus.

That’s good to know also, because I’m going to need hood struts pretty soon. I’ll just assume they’d be the same as the trunk experience you had.

Replaced the trunk struts on the 2003 530i with a pair of Stabilus from FCP Euro - the originals only lasted 20 years, so with their lifetime replacement warranty I should be good!

It’s reassuring to hear multiple positive firsthand experiences with Stabilus. If the only good option had been $72/ea. for OE hood struts I’d just drive around with a 4’ wooden dowel in the trunk.

Yeah I was weary too but I figured they couldn't mess up a small hunk of formed metal!

Does anyone have any good recommendations on brands for an outdoor/all weather car cover? I have moved to NYC and am storing my car at my folks' place likely for at least a year before I can figure out a better (and cost effective) storage solution

Is there a creative way of retrieving something from the bottom of the DME/brake booster compartment abyss? I dropped one of the DME cover torx screws and can’t locate it even with the plastic heat shield thing removed.

Or do i just consider it a sacrifice to the Bimmer gods and get a replacement next time I’m in the junkyard?
