    Considering a DIY AE project

Considering installing the Helios AE kit. I have never tackled a project of this sorts but am a somewhat confident wrencher and am decent at electronics. Is this pretty doable by a beginner such as myself or is it better that I pay an extra $80 on top to have my local headlight specialist do it? I would like to also wire it so that they are my DRLs. Thanks for any input!

If you have a sedan it's definitely doable! It's a good learning experience as well. It's pretty difficult to mess it up. It just involves removing the headlights which is a few bolts, plugging in the connector and then running the wires through the back of the headlights and then buttoning everything up. I did my Orion V2's on my old ZHP and it was the first time I had been under the hood of my ZHP. I had zero issues. Wiring them to the standard location will run them as DRL's.

Thanks for your encouragement! Where is the standard location for DRLs? Mine are currently turned off.

Well the angel eyes, at least mine tapped into a wire in the ECU which basically powered them as soon as the car was turned on, making them DRL's. Actually making your inner bowls DRL's require coding.

Thanks Avetiso! When I get these in the mail, I'll attempt a proper install and will take pics along the way and post my experience.

OP, the angel eyes you purchased from Dario are very easy to install. You can actually install them with the headlight assembly in place. As Chris stated for sedans this is a fairly simple process since you can "unclip" your headlight lens from the headlight assembly. Just be careful when unclipping the headlight lens so that you don't break any of the clips. You can't glue them back...

When I installed my AE's I left my headlight assembly in place and installed the rings. Took me like 15 minutes to do this...If you have any question PM me. When I get home from work, I will take additional pictures of my AE setup and send them to you if you want
