it happens... i did this last year. "well, if i'm already IN there and have the subframe out..." etc, etc... i can justify it (ha) by saying that i'll never have to replace it again. and since i plan to keep this car until i can afford an F80 M3... that should be a good long while.
i think it's your rings. the catch can/PCV setup will help seal them with the increased vacuum.
