Got the left rear on. The right rear will need some work though. The brake line nut is seized. I couldn't break that sucker loose despite spraying PB Blaster on it two days ago as well as this morning. Does anyone have any tips before I cut that sucker and have the line reflared?

    BP,
Add heat. They sell a little butane torch at most parts stores, use it to heat the threads on that line at the caliper, it will break loose. Bruce

Brake fluid is flammable, Bruce... I'm not so sure that's a good idea!

Read Rob the Hack Mechanic's most recent article online on BMWCCA.org, he just did it and describes how to add the heat just on the threads. And once hot, reshoot the PB Blaster and it sucks itself down into the threads.

I talked to a guy yesterday that outline the process for me. I'm still not too keen on doing this though. I think I'm just going to have a shop loosen it for me. Doing this without adult supervision is probably a bad idea!

good flat-jawed vise grips work well for stuck/seized flare nuts.

do you have the correct wrench for flare nuts? i forget the actual name, but they are 5-sided and really help to not strip the nut. they are always the best place to start, and then resort to the flat-jawed vise grips.

good to see you using the ol' PB Blaster. that stuff is amazing.

    Both of these methods failed.
It's called a flare wrench, BTW.
