    Alright, so quick update.

Bruce, when you mentioned vice grips, we tried that at Charlie's place and failed. It turns out, the vice grips were at fault in this case. The ones we used were from Harbor Freight, and it was actually damaging the vice grips as we tried to get the nut loosened.

Today I was visiting my BMW Tech friend at his place and he said "let's check it out". Little did I know I'd have my caliper installed tonight.
He used his SnapOn vice grips and that totally did the trick. That thing grips like a mofo.

Needless to say, I didn't tighten the line very much, just enough to feel pressure and gave it a very slight turn on top of it. He double checked the tightness just to be safe.

For the record, he didn't recommend using heat, and thought it was a bad idea to use heat on components that carry brake fluid.

It's not the car you drive, it's how you drive it.

nice, glad you got it sorted. and yes, cheap tools do suck sometimes. there are rare exceptions, of course (depends on the tool).

Received the six coil packs I ordered, only to find out on the way to pick them up that my right rear shock has failed. Guess I'll be out of a car for a few weeks. [Sigh]

It's been leaking for at least a couple of weeks now. I only discovered it recently.

On a really hot day, a penguin takes his car to a mechanic. The penguin asks, "How long will it be?" The mechanic says, "Just a few minutes."
So the penguin decides to go get an ice cream at the grocery store across the street. When the penguin gets there, he climbs inside the big freezer door and starts to eat ice cream.

Three hours go by before the penguin looks at his watch and jumps out of the freezer and races back to the mechanic.
With ice cream all over his face and his stomach, he asks, "So how's my car?" The mechanic comes walking out wiping his hands on a rag and says, "Looks like you blew a seal." The penguin says, "No, I was just eating ice cream."
