I'm dying to know why you only have one cam. Serious.
GLWS.
In the market for an E90 M3
I'll admit to being curious too.

sigh,
This story has all kind of bad memories. Short story, car was still under CPO warranty, nipple broke off radiator and car was shut down when the temp gauge started moving, as in it never made it past 3/4's but as most know that is already too hot.
Dealer "warranty does not cover that, it was a broken hose" slight battle ensued which also included replacing the rear lower control arms that was pulled about 6 inches when it was towed to the dealer.
6 months later after fighting strange running conditions, it was determined the head gasket was bad, of course the block was too so TimeSert time.
During re-assembly, (I was using the 1 turn per nut on the bearing caps install method) I found one of the nuts hard to turn, so I turned my back to grab a light to better see what was going on and at that same time a friend was trying to feel the tension and must have turned the nut too much which resulted in a POP, cam snapped in half. Not happy but was not worth making a fuss over the mistake. Strangely, buying a set of cams was the same price as a single replacement. Thought about schricks but didnt want to lose any of the mid range torque since it is 1. my wife's car and 2. auto. I did find humor in laughing at myself for having to replace a broken cam after laughing at many others "how do you break a cam?"
I should add, I don't expect a ZHP owner would need a single cam unless they do the same during reassembly but it should be helpful to the guys who are bolting on superchargers to 330's, should provide a nice hp bump.
The inaccuracy of the temperature gauge is the main reason I bought an Ultragauge for my car. I have an alarm set to warn me if temp gets to the high side of normal.
Did everything work out in the end once the new cams were installed?

Every e46 owner should do the temp gauge mod.
That cam would make neat "garage art". Too bad I don't have a garage :-(

Yes. Took a few days to get the cams here but everything after that was smooth sailing (this happened about 3 years ago btw, the cams were hidden in my basement and recently found when I was cleaning it out when we sold our house). Though now I am battling a new issue with the car, argh! I will make a new post about it but 3-4 months ago, the car started developing a surging after 2600rpm. Smooth as butter at any throttle input up to 2600, once past that point it starts to surge. Full throttle it is not noticeable but if you are at 40% or more throttle, a very noticeable surging starts and continues up to near redline. It feels like the throttle is going from 40%-70%-40% every 1/4second.
No codes.
New fuel pump, fuel filter with reg. Rebuilt Vanos. Car had latest flash in the DME but we reflashed it anyway, no change. Unplugging vanos seems to change the frequency and make it less noticeable. At that point I rebuilt the vanos thinking that was the smoking gun. Well it improved but is still noticeable. Car has 120k miles on it and auto trans. Torque converter seems to lock up normally so I don't think it is the transmission.
Wish I could help you with that but its way beyond my knowledge.
