Well done! I remember when I did mine. And I agree it was long overdue as well.

So ECStuning was offering 20% and free shipping over the weekend.

So I placed an order for a Single Mass Flywheel Conversion Kit.

    Kit contents:
    Single-mass flywheel
Non-Self Adjusting Clutch and pressure plate
    Throw out bearing
    Pressure plate bolts
    Flywheel bolts

Total cost came out to be $389 which is a really good deal considering a dual mass flywheel alone is that cost. Hopefully I do not regret going to a single mass mostly cause some individuals stated there is chatter.

Any suggestions on what else to replace when I pull the transmission ?

$389?! which kit did you buy? even at 20% off, that's a lot cheaper than anticipated.

for the valeo 835101 kit - i forgot to mention in my Touring thread, but i weighed all of the kit components versus the stock stuff, and everything actually weights the same amount. maybe 0.5lb variance in the entire kit (40lbs). the flywheel is 25lbs. i doubt chatter will be an issue.

as for other things to replace - the RMS + gasket for sure, as well as the metal pivot pin (will last forever). i would absolutely rebuild the shift linkage if you haven't already (with a few upgraded components in there for longevity and better shift feel: shift fork bushings - use delrin - and the rear shift fork carrier - use poly.... you can get everything from garagistic.com), also driveshaft flex disc and CSB if you haven't already. i'm pretty sure you've done the M3 trans mounts, too?

This is the kit I bought. Pretty sure it is the correct one.

FCP Euro has it for $549 so this was a good bit cheaper.

I recently did the CSB and the flex disk ( less then 5k on them ) and the M3 trans mounts have roughly 40k on them.

With the holiday season, I am trying to keep this job cost effective and not go over-board with "while I am in there I might as well replace it"

But RSM would be silly not to replace and pretty sure the plastic pin is worn. And I think I have some shifter rebuild parts stockpiled.

cool... you got the right kit, and what a deal! nice score!

yes, RMS is silly not to do. and if you've got the shifter rebuild parts already... go for it.

one helpful thing too, is the HF trans jack i have. it wasn't expensive, and makes dropping/raising the trans safe and precise. i also used it to drop/raise the entire rear diff/suspension assembly - it's a fantastic tool.

Placed an order with FCP Euro for "while you are in there might as well replace parts"

Now the waiting game begins for the parts to show up.

    FedEx dropped this off today.

Also talked to a local shop that is going to let me rent a 2 post lift to do this job.
