Man, congrats Vas. Part of me is supremely jealous of how smoothly this is going. But the other part of me is glad I had such a hard time—it makes me feel like I’m getting to the point where I can now tackle most anything on these cars.

Well you’ve already done the rear subframe bushings and clutch job, so almost anything else that is maintenance only will not be more difficult. The only other job that is bigger that I can think of right now would be an engine swap.

A trick that worked was looping a tow strap around the back of the trans and going up into the cabin. There I put a block of wood inside the car and looped the strap so this way the rear of the trans was able to hang on it own. Made it easier to handle it without having a jack under the trans.

How about installing some headers? Those look fun to remove.

Smart. And as for headers...I’m not touching the studs on the side of the block. Knowing this car they’ll turn into a red dust just by breathing on them the wrong way.

What did you end up doing with the 4 exhaust studs and nuts? Drill them out or beat them out?

Paid a shop handsomely to drill them out since I needed the Magnaflow welded anyway.

Pic below is the Turner Polyurethane Shifter Arm Bushing installed to replace the factory rubber. Will report back on the feel after putting some miles on the car.

Speaking of it, it's back on it's wheels. Got it finished last night so first drive today.
