I just came across this so sorry about the late reply.
Ok thanks, does the 17x8.5 alleviate this issue with clearance? I am probably going to run 245/45-17. --Jay
If you have any questions about Apex, just reach out to David. #1, I'm an idiot. #2, it's his product.Jay,
Unfortunately running the 8.5" width does not alleviate the issue if you were to run the same tire sizes, as those tires are the reason that you need a spacer to clear the struts. The tire width is much wider than stock, and rubs onto the struts.

245/45/17 will rub on stock set up, which is what I have in the rear.
You need 245/40/17, which is what I'll be getting next time.

Last fall I bought some satin-black 17x8.5 ET40 Arc-8's on sale (~$750/set) at Turner to replace my 135's (planning to run 245/40R17 PSS). I was waiting until spring to mount them, but I happened onto a recent group-buy and pulled the trigger on some anthracite 18x8.5 ET38 Arc-8's ($956/set with free shipping) like I had wanted originally (this was only feasible due to the fact I was looking for new wheels for my new 330xi, so I'm going to do some swapping of wheels between cars). So, now I'll be in the interesting position of being able to test the wheels head-to-head on my ZHP.
My big question is: What are people's thoughts on mounting my current, staggered (225/255 PSS) tires on the square Arc-8's? I suppose I'll forego some of the handling benefits of squaring up the tires, but I'd hate to see my current tires go to waste when they're at least 75% new.
Never mind... went ahead and bought a new set of 245/40R18 PSS's. The Michelin discount put me over the edge.
Ya the $750 for the set was a steal and I kinda regret not buying them even though I don't think satin black would look that good on BSM...

I hope the Satin Black wheels look good with BSM, because that's the color of the 330xi they're going on. It'll be a month or two before I get them mounted but, when I do, I'll post some pics.
