Why do you say it'll make the car feel more peppy? Smaller diameter, so smaller "final drive?"
Why taller in the back? That's different.

    Cuz it looks badass!

Actually, the 2 used wheels I bought came with the tires. I didn't realize they would be a whole inch bigger. I've rubbed a few times. When I get new tires I'll get the correct OEM size. I wish this size didn't rub because I think it looks awesome.

According to tire rack, the 245/45 and 245/40 are both 25 pounds (for my tire). So I doubt I'll feel much difference.

My mpg will take a hit though. I've seen about .75 mpg less at highway speeds on these tires, and they're only .3" smaller diameter compared to OEM style 135 with 255/35/18.

A whole inch less of diameter will probably knock that down a lot

they're actually 0.7" taller than the stock 255/35/18 rears.

They might be same weight or maybe the shorter tires are slightly lighter but not enough difference to show up in the spec. Even if they are the same weight, the mass is slightly closer to the center so easier to accelerate.

How much less are you spending on tires with these? I want to get the Arc 8's and I am still deciding if I want 18 or 17.

    Apex ARC-8 Hypersilver 17x8.5" review

Depends on brand of tire, but my BF Goodrich G Force Sport Comp2 tires are $119 for 245/40/17 vs $170 for 255/35/18. So $51 PER tire. $220 per set of 4 after taxes.

Michelin PSS are $163 vs $225 for the same sizes. So that's $62 PER TIRE. $250 per set after taxes.

That's quite significant to me, especially if I'm going through a set of tires every 18-24 months from autox/daily driving.

PLUS the 17" wheels are cheaper and lighter than the 18" wheels.

That is a big difference. I will definitely look into it now.
