Very cool, I've always wanted to go karting beyond local sub 25 mph courses.

If you ever get the opportunity, jump on it! If there are any races in your area, it's worth it to even go and spectate to see the difference in the karts and the drivers. Many of the shops that attend the races do rentals too. You would be blown away by the performance of a real kart compared to even some of the best hire karts.

It's a long video, but it gives you the sense of driving quality/competitiveness.
