They will finance a car with a down payment that is either what they paid for the car or close enough to make the gamble. They'll hold a first position lien on the title and install GPS on the car. Then, they sell the car again with less down (they now have 0 dollars in the car) with more attractive terms, or even the same terms as above.
I've seen these type of operations sell a car 3&4 times in less than 3 months. A lot of these business may arguably be preying on the less fortunate, but often times they aren't. The people purchasing the cars are a very unique crowd... and take advantage of any situation they can.
