The E90 car/platform is a different platform than the E46. They are still called "3 series". The E46 is a completely different car that the E30 (also a 3 series) before it, and so on. It's just BMW's car/platform designation. John

The E46 Sedan ended in 2005. The E46 Coupe was available in 2006.
The E90 Sedan began in 2006. The E92 Coupe was available in 2007.
That's the sedan/coupe overlap that Marcus is talking about.
Also, don't confuse production year with model year.

My E46 '06 coupe has a 10/05 production date.... but, wasn't put in service until 07/06.....
